October 17/18, 1947: Mr. Victor Grosz, director of the press and information department, presiding over a meeting of foreign press correspondents in Warsaw, including Larry Allan (AP), Sydney Gruson (New York Times), Nicolas Carroll (Kensly Papers), Mr. Kantiouchin (Agency Tass), two women, and Mr. Marechal (France). People entering room, sit around table talking, many smoking. 03:10:27 Taking notes. Grosz talking. 03:11:30 November 11, 1947: Tram, building with door marked "Czytelnik" (an evening press), people leave and enter. 03:11:57 Man fixing mold frame of printing press. Printing newspaper "Wieczor" ["Evening"]. Putting paper together. Distributing paper to vendors. 03:14:53 October 8, 1947. EXT, "Film Polski Atelier" building (film studios in Łódź). The March of Time was invited to visit the studios to survey Polish documentaries and choose sequences to insert in this MOT production on Poland. Upon their arrival, a Czech crew was shooting outdoor scenes for a feature film about a fight in the Łódź ghetto called "Border Street." 03:15:41 Houses on fire, people watching. 03:16:02 Movie cameras, crew. Alexander Ford (director), discussing shot. Cameramen. CUs, Ford. German soldiers kick dead fireman. An episode of the destruction of the ghetto (fire set everywhere). Technical crew and director looking at shoot. MS, woman and child screaming in window of burning home.
