German soldiers looking down into open burial pit filled with bodies. Freed American Prisoners, Graselben, Germany, April 12, 1945. MLS, happy, released American prisoners. MS, three released US prisoners stripped to the waist show their thin and bony bodies. VS, released American prisoners waving to the soldiers of the 117th Inf. Regt, 30th Inf. Div, passing in vehicles. MSs, LSs, liberated American prisoners kicking and throwing objects at German prisoners. The prisoners run past the released Americans with their hands raised. CUs, gaunt-looking US soldiers. Ransacking by Germans, Poles, and Russians: Military Government Restoring Order, Nordhausen, Germany, April 12, 1945. Seq: Liberated Germans, Poles, Russians and Italians come out of buildings carrying clothing and household effects which they have taken. Seq: Civilians are forced to stack stolen material in street. A Sgt. with "SG" on his helmet directs the civilian looters to do so at gun point. MSs, CUs, civilians, both young and old, carry booty in the street.
