Scope and Content
The book is a critique of present Jewish learning (1918) and how it should be taught in schools. It is addressed to Hermann Cohen. He argues that for a Jew the Bible can only be understood in Hebrew and is untranslatable. A curriculum for each school year is suggested and discussed. Participation of whole school classes on Sabbath services should be mandatory and coordinated with the schedule of Christian religious studies.
