Scope and Content
The booklet is the testimony of Rabbi Max Abraham and the circumstances of his imprisonment in Oranienburg in 1933. He describes the abuse and humiliation he and his fellow prisoners had to endure. Regular beatings, imprisonment in windowless cells and cleaning of toilets with bare hands were part of the daily routine. In September 1933 he and other Jewish inmates are transferred to the Papenburg camp and later to Lichtenburg. After a mock trial and sentencing he flees with his wife penniless to Czechoslovakia.
