Scope and Content
The pamphlet "Sozialdemokratie und Antisemitismus" with two addenda, written by August Bebel in 1906, is about a speech, in which he addresses the position of the Social Democratic Party on antisemitism. This represents the first official confrontation of the Social Democrats with growing antisemitism. Because many members of the Social Democratic Party were unaware of this growing movement, August Bebel attempts to explain antisemitism on religious, racial, economic, and social grounds and the importance of this group to Social Democracy.
