Scope and Content
The publication from 1893 gives an overview of Jewish achievements and preservation of antique thoughts and philosophy during the “dark” centuries before Arabs continued to preserve it. The author describes the destruction of antique sciences and achievements through Christian intolerance. It was thanks to the Jews that old knowledge was preserved and reborn in the Middle Ages. He claims that many Indian books were translated into Arabic by Jewish writers. Especially Bassra was an important city of Jewish thought in those days and later Cordoba in Spain.
