Drei Gespenster

The booklet from 1883 describes the changing attitude of Russians and their authority towards their fellow Jews. It claims that the new spirit is created through false allegations spread in newspapers and publications by recent converts to Christianity. The origins of the blood libel are analyzed, and its claims refuted. Other sources and reasons for Anti-Semitism are located and described (libel, kahal, and exploitation, - which consists of speculation, liquor trade and usury). Jewish loyalty to their respective country during the diaspora is recounted next. The idea of the Shabbat is the essence of Judaism and should also apply to slaves and foreigners, a uniquely Jewish concept. The overall attitude of Jews towards Christians is seen as positive and lacking - beside some personal cases - of prejudice.
