Scope and Content
"Friedberg's extraordinary architectural and cultural monument lies hidden in the ground and does not appear from the outside: the monumental medieval mikveh, the so-called "Judenbad". It belongs to a small group of medieval monumental mikvahs that have survived in Germany: the mikvahs in Speyer, Cologne, Worms, Friedberg, Offenburg and Andernach. With a depth of 25 meters, the Friedberg mikvah is the largest and most impressive of them; it conveys an extraordinary spatial experience. In addition, it is a lasting testimony to Friedberg's important Jewish community, which existed from the 13th century to 1942 and was located in the Judengasse between the castle and the town." -- From Wetterau-Museum.com.
