Scope and Content
The association under which this book was published is “Deutschgläubige Gemeinschaft“, which was founded in 1909 by Otto Siegfried Reuter. It believed in an Arian Christ and worked towards an Arian, antisemitic Christianity. The origin of the Old testimony is recounted. The Israelites are connected to the Hyksos and a correlation between the bull cult of Apis and the golden calf is made. The god Yahweh is supposed to be the revengeful god Seth who demands blood sacrifice. The conquering of Canaan and the rule of the Kings David and Salomon is described, always with critical, antisemitic undertones. The stories of the prophets are recounted in the next chapter. Ezekiel and Ezra are named as the fathers of Judaism. Yahweh is portrayed as a reflection of his people (The way you are, so is your God). He is ambitious, full of envy, moody, intolerant, immoral, bloodthirsty and revengeful. Schopenhauer’s understanding of god is quoted and the idea of god for the Arian vs. the Jewish concept is explained. The next chapter lauds the achievements of the Greek culture and its philosophers, and compares them favorably to the lack of Jewish contribution during this time. During the time of Jesus buddhistic influences can be found in their writings. In the last chapter the life of Jesus is retold and Judaism and early Christianity in the Roman period are discussed. The appendix lists publications on German faith and life.
