This tolerant view was not limited to religious and social aspects but was also found in politics, through emancipation. Emancipation enabled Jews to gain influence in all aspects of life and this influence is considered to be decomposing Christian and German life. New racial theories enabled to define Jews as a race and give them typical characteristics. Antisemitism grew and Judaism found a defender in Liberalism.
