United Restitution Organization (URO)

The file contains seven circulars (“Rundschreiben”) by the United Restitution Organization (Frankfurt) from November and December 1963. The circulars include the following issues: no. 1183, no. 1182, no. 1179, no. 1178, no. 1177, no. 1175, and no. 1173. They mainly deal with recent court judgements on questions of restitution, especially regarding juridical regulations and procedures, the definition of the term “Flüchtling” (refugee), court judgements and historical information on wearing the Yellow Star in Nazi-Germany occupied Croatia, the purchase power of the Israeli Pound, claims for life in illegality under the Nazi rule in Hungary, and damage to life.
