Scope and Content
The file is a summary prepared by Eva Reichmann of the Jewish Central Information Office in Amsterdam. It is addressing the Anti-Semitic articles published in the Canadian publication "The Key to the Mystery" and was sent to South Africa to support the local Jewish community with evidence during the trial of Manie Maritz. The file lists each article and tries to find evidence through research, witnesses etc. to refute them point by point. It also includes a list of Anti-Semitic books (Protocols, Bagatelles pour un massacre, German publications and Israel Manda in Spanish with a lengthy handwritten analysis in German). Finally Eva Reichmann gives an eloquent argument on "quotations as propaganda" by giving examples from the New Testament and British politicians and how quotations can be misinterpreted to fit a narrative. She tries to end on a positive note appealing to "Reason and Fairness " on the side of Jewry as its only weapons when it addresses Antisemitism, and that they will prevail. The file was compiled in July 1939.
