Scope and Content
The file contains a typewritten version of the so-called “Verordnung über außerordentliche Rundfunkmaßnahmen“ („Decree concerning extraordinary broadcasting measures”) enacted on September 1, 1939, on the day of the beginning of World War II, in order to control the public information. Following a few introductory sentences on the “danger” of foreign broadcasting services for the security of the German people, the document includes the decree’s seven paragraphs on the penalties regarding the use of foreign broadcasting stations and the spreading of their information. It is part of a series of decrees enacted shortly after the beginning of World War II, such as the of the so-called “Verordnung gegen Gewaltverbrecher” (“Decree against Perpetrators of Crimes of Violence”) and the “Verordnung gegen Volksschädlinge” (“Decree against public enemies”)
