Scope and Content

The file contains the verdict of Franz Sykora (born on 19 July 1915 in Jinstschan). In November 1939 the defendant Sykora set the hay stack of a farmer on fire. In the evening of the same day he set the hay stack of another farmer on fire. Two months later he set fire to the stable of his mother-in-law. The hay stacks as well as the whole barn burned out. Sykora admitted to committing the arson and was not considered to have been under the influence. The defendant was accused of not only hurting the ones immediately affected by the arson but also endangering the security of the general population. Therefore, Sykora was considered a danger for the whole society. Sykora was found guilty of the arsons and was sentenced to death for each of them.
