Scope and Content

The file contains the verdict of Johann Sterusky (born on 14 March 1919 in Podkylava). In 1942 a friend introduced Sterusky to a man he called his uncle. Sterusky was asked to support the unknown man by bringing him certain items. In the following months Sterusky continued to support and spend more time with the man. The man called Hlavin was actually a former member of the Czech army who was involved in the anti-Nazi resistance and therefore wanted by the police. Sterusky argued that he did not know that Hlavin was living illegally. The defendant Sterusky was accused of supporting and not reporting an enemy. He was found guilty and sentenced to death in 1944.
