Extent and Medium
2 online resources (2, 27 pages)
Scope and Content
The file contains reports - probably British - on the Dutch people's stance towards the Allied and the Nazi causes. The reports tell that 95% of the Dutch people, the Dutch Nazi Party [NSB] notwithstanding, is favorably disposed towards the Allied cause. It claims that the Allied propaganda has to strengthen the Dutch sympathy for the Allies, which mostly depends on Holland's ability to continue a good economic situation. The file gives information on the economic situation of Holland until and after the outbreak of the war, vis a vis its trade with Germany. It also gives information about the heavy German propaganda in Holland, the means it uses, the reasons of its failure and compares it with the British and the French propaganda. Attached items give detailed information about economics, propaganda, cultural statistics and views expressed in Holland on the military situation.
