Scope and Content

The files contain information on various trials in Germany. The documents report on the murder of NSDAP member Horst Wessel, whose death was used for Nazi propaganda. His murderer, a communist, was put in prison but later murdered after the Nazis' rise to power. Other people, who allegedly took part in the crime, were also executed. Furthermore, the documents mention other unfair trials against Jews and critics of the Nazi regime. They include a trial against a Jewish lawyer who accused another man of anti-Semitism, but was himself ultimately charged with defamation because of the accusation. In addition, the file covers the trial against an evangelical pastor, who urged his confirmands to treat Jews with respect.
