Scope and Content
Two five-page online documents. The first one contains listed information about a Wiener Library's envelope about Günter Grass (1927-2015), a German poet, playwriter, novelist and graphic artist. The envelope contains various, multi-language newspaper articles about his work, beliefs and his relation to Israel. His role as a public figure, fighting against antisemitism and for the remembrance of the Holocaust in Germany, was highly discussed and critizised when in 2006 he reveiled his past as a soldier for the Waffen-SS.Official biographical information about Grass, provided by Munzinger-Archiv in 1963 and 1965, can be found in the envelope itself and is uploaded as a second document.
