Heinrich Schulz

"Heinrich Ernst Walter Schulz was born July 21, 1893 in Saalfeld, Germanyand died on 5th June , 1979 in Eltville, Germany. He was a German officer and political assassin, who became known as an accomplice of Heinrich Tillessen in the assassination of the German politician Matthias Erzberger on 26 August 1921. Shortly after his return to Germany, Schulz was amnestied by the impunity ordinance of March 21, 1933 signed by President Paul von Hindenburg. In 1933 Schulz entered the SS . He was promoted to the Obersturmbannführer of the Waffen-SS in 1943 as part of his work as a welfare officer of the Waffen-SS, which he held until the end of the war . By may 1945, Schulz became an American prisoner of war, Subsequently, he was heard as a witness during the Nuremberg trials, and his involvement in the assassination of Erzberger was revealed. Schulz was sentenced to eight years of work camps. In December 1949, he was handed over to the German authorities and detained in Offenburg . At the trial for the murder of Erzberger who took place from 17 to 19 July 1950, he was sentenced for manslaughter. The sentence was twelve years imprisonment.
