Scope and Content
Bernhard von Claer served in the German Army in both of the World Wars. In World War II he was a Higher Field Commandant of various battalions and commander of special duty staff. He was in US captivity in 1945-1947, and was then transferred to Belgian captivity to stand trial in the Falkenhausen Process because of alleged war crimes. In 1951 he was absolved and proved innocent. -- Axis Biographical Research
