Scope and Content
The file is the first part of papers and memoirs by Dr. Max Wolff of London. The first part is about the Nuremberg trial and the crimes against Jews in Germany before the war (crimes that were not part of the Nuremberg trial), which the author criticizes. Further there is an analysis of the Nuremberg trial and its shortcomings by Dr. Max Wolff of London in English. The second part, "The expired passport", is an opinion piece about the nature of the passport as a means of identification, and a legal document for passing from country to country - If it has an expiration date does it lose both its purposes?. The third part, "Anti-Nazi activities until 1933", is a summary of the activities and lectures to social democrats and communists by Dr. Max Wolff with an analyses of the working class political leanings and reasons for Anti-semitism. He writes about his journalistic activities, writing books about the political climate in Germany before 1933, national bolshevism and the Anti-nazi-commission of the KPD. The last part is the handwritten biography of Dr. Max Wolff. He lived 20 years in Polish Lissa, then a part of Prussia, working in the law office of his uncle who was also a member of the Prussian parliament. In the year 1920 Lissa became Polish and he moved to Breslau. He gives a colorful insight into small town life at the beginning of the 20th century. In Breslau he worked as a lawyer for the higher court. He preferred life in small town Lissa more compared to the “big city” and its anonymity.
