United Restitution Organization (URO)

The file contains five circulars (“Rundschreiben”) by the United Restitution Organization (Frankfurt) ranging between May and July 1968. The circulars include the following issues: no. 1565, no. 1564, no. 1563, no. 1561, no. 1559a, and no. 1562. They mainly deal with recent court judgements made by the German Federal Court (Bundesgerichtshof) on questions of restitution after Nazi persecution, especially regarding juridical regulations and proceedings for claims within the Federal law for restitution („Bundesentschädigungsgesetz”), professional damages and damages to property located in the Eastern part of Germany (“Ostzone”) which is actually the German Democratic Republic (GDR), and compensation for hardship.The topics include: „Ansprüche einer in der Ostzone ansässigen offenen Handelsgesellschaft für Vermögensschaden (good will)“, „Angleichung Lebens- und Gesundheitsschaden im Falle veranlasster Freiheitsentziehung“, „Härteausgleich“, „Berufsschaden, hier: Beginn der Frist für die Rentenwahl“.
