Scope and Content
The file is the second part of a collection of Holocaust memorabilia. It contains a collection of copies of ghetto money from the ghetto Litzmannstadt (Lodz) issued in 1940 by "The Elder of the Jews in Litzmannstadt" (translation by the JDC). The denominations are 50 Pfennig, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 Marks. They were obtained by Eva Reichmann, London during her stay in Poland in February 1957. The notes had no value outside the ghetto, and could not be exchanged into other currencies.
