Scope and Content

The file contains the charges and the verdicts of Edmund Škarda (born on 13 April 1925 in Witten), Ladislaus Petr (born on 3 May 1926 in Pilsen) and Ladislaus Fail (born on 8 August 1925 in Eger). The defendant Škarda started committing thefts in 1940. In the following years he stole money, watches and other items on many occasions. Škarda was the oldest of the three youths. He was sentenced to death in 1943. Many of the accusations against Škarda also apply to Petr. However, he was younger and was considered to be influenced by Škarda. Therefore, he was not given the death penalty but was sentenced to seven years of penitentiary. Fail participated in only nine thefts, some of them being aggravated thefts. Fail was sentenced to three years of penitentiary.
