Scope and Content
The file contains announcements, publications, correspondences, memoranda and records of meetings. For example a record of the fifth public general meeting of the Association of German Jews (Verband der Deutschen Juden) in Hamburg. The meeting took place at the 9th of September 1913. On the agenda were the annual report, lectures, and the election of the committee. Furthermore the names of members of the Verband Deutscher Juden in Hamburg are included. Also secret information about the Grindelfriedhof (Grindelcemetery) are attached. In the document research about the future of the Grindelfriedhof has been made, as the last burial took place in 1909. Because the cemetery was fully occupied, Jewish communities had to bury their dead in the Jewish cemetery in Ohlsdorf. Additionally several handwritten letters and speeches by members of the Verband Deutscher Juden in Hamburg can be seen. Also declaration of accession, publications of the Deutsch-Israelitischer Synagogen Verband, pictures and telegraphs are attached.
