Then Mr. Galanther was heard and explained his experience in 1943 with Herbert Schulz. Schulz was accused of being the reason for the deportation of the Latvian Jews of the camp and his brutality against other Jews, he was also dreaded by both Germans and Jews in the camp. On the other hand Schulz was looking after children, old and weak people, as testimonies confirm. The Court of Honor passed the resolution, that according to the general impression derived from the evidence placed, the accused has been found guilty of brutalities and actions unworthy of a Jew. On the other hand, the Court is of the opinion that the accused, in some cases, has acted in the conviction that this brutality would save the victims from far worse maltreatments.
