Extent and Medium
1 electronic resource (12 pages)
Scope and Content
The file contains reports regarding the trial of David Frankfurter, Chur, Switzerland in 1936, published by the Jewish Central information Office. In 1928 Alfred Wiener was instrumental in creating the Büro Wilhelmstrasse of the CV, which documented Nazi activities and issued anti-Nazi materials until 1933 when Hitler came to power. Wiener and his family fled to Amsterdam where he, together with Dr. David Cohen of Amsterdam University, founded the Jewish Central Information Office (JCIO). In this report the course of the trail, including newspaper cuttings providing informations regarding the trial from all over the world, can be seen. David Frankfurter, on 04.02.1936, murdered Wilhelm Gustloff, who was head of the national Nazi association in Switzerland. Frankfurter was sentenced to 18 years prison and the Nazis used the act for anti-Jewish propaganda and attacks on Switzerland. Even before the trail started the Nazis distributed and published anti-Jewish propaganda saying that the trail is not just for reaching justice but release of the Jewish attitude and Jewish 'murdersystem'.
