[Jahres Generalversammlung]

The file contains an invitation to the annual meeting (Jahres Generalversammlung) of the Comite Israelite des Refugies Victimes des Lois Raciales (COREF). The annual meeting should take place at the 23rd of January 1949 in the Elysee 15, Place Fontainas, 1st Level. On the agenda were reports of the directorate, cash reports, discussions, general informations concerning Jewish life after the war and answering questions of the members. Afterwards a gathering with all members was planed to speak about new projects and past ones. Furthermore the members were asked to bring some cakes or snaks to the meeting, so the organization could be supported by selling this goods. Also informations about Jewish communities and advocates, concerning reparations in Germany and Brussels are given. Furthermore informations about daily life problems, as well as informations concerning immigrations to Israel or the United States and visits to Germany are given. The aim of this organization was to represent the interests of all political refugees in Belgium, mainly Jewish refugees of German and Austrian origin. The association counted nearly 2000 members between 1945 and 1957 and declined sharply to less than a hundred in the late 1950s. The COREF offered donations, loans and offered the services of a social worker as well as boarding stays at the coast.
