Scope and Content
The file contains a report about the German transportation crises, especially regarding the sea route, in 1940. Since the start of the war the trade and the transportation of goods, food supply and munitions using the sea route caused a lot of problems. First the trade with foreign countries stoped completely, as a result of the naval blockade, excluding the countries who were neutral to the Hitler regime or occupied, and second the German shipping and the shipways were not build yet for this high emerge. Furthermore were the shipways from christmas 1940 completely closed, as the cold winter forces the shipping to stop its work. The country way ecspecially the railroad traffic could not make up for the enormous emergence. Even though Hitler praised his Reichsautobahn, it did not have the importance and the abbility yet. Furthermore counted patrol to the goods in short supply, which led to new sanctions like a permission for using any vehicle for privat purposes. Which again led to drastic capacity overload problems in the local traffic, as more people used the tram (Strassenbahn). Later in the year of 1940 people were not even allowed to use the train for long distance traveling, as the train was now reserved for the supply of goods and munitions, but even for that the rail traffic was completely overstrained.
