The file contains informations about the 'Rechsverband der deutschen Juden' (The Reich Representation of German Jews). Protocols of meetings and correspondence between members, as well as information papers and leaflets can be read. Most of the protocols and letters are regarding the formulation of its duties, its rights and future plans. Also first ideas and the final constitution of the Reichsorganisation are attached. The Reich Representation of German Jews was a Jewish umbrella organization founded in Germany. It was established to coordinate and represent the activities of Jewish political and religious groups, with headquarters in Berlin, and provide legal defence in the face of growing persecution of the Nazi era. The Reichsverband provided administrative know-how for Jewish Germans to organize self-help. It established central welfare organizations, occupational retraining for dismissed officials, preparation for emigration and built up schools and institution of elementary to higher education open for Jewish students and pupils.
