[Jüdischer Kulturbund in Frankfurt]
Extent and Medium
1 electronic resource (172 pages)
Scope and Content
The file contains material from the member society of the Reichsverband der Jüdischen Kulturbunde (Cultural Federation of German Jews) in Frankfurt. The Reichsverband der Jüdischen Kulturbunde hired over 1300 men and 700 women artists, musicians, and actors fired from German institutions, and grew to about 70,000 members all over the third Reich. Most of the material are examples of programs of activities and correspondences, especially adressed to the supervisor Hans Hinkel (responsible as a special commissioner for "cultural particulars" at the Reich Ministry for the People's Enlightenment and Propaganda) and to Kurt Singer (chairman of the Cultural Federation of German Jews in Berlin). The material shows for example the establishment of an orchestra in Frankfurt am Main, informations concerning theater plays, literature and singing events. Besides manuscripts and articles the Kulturbund wishes to publish in programs and in their newspaper is attached. Also correspondences between memebers of the National Socialist German Workers' Party and Hinkel concerning the monitoring and further steps of supervision of the Frankfurt branch of the Reichsverband der Jüdischen Kulturbunde can be seen.
