The file contains an information leaflet so-called "news in Brief", which includes reports and documents on contemporary Germany published by the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) (German academic exchange service) in 1938. The DAAD supports the internationalisation of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language abroad. The leaflet informs among other things about 'notes of the month', which covers current news about Germany and its politics. It refers to 'the Anschluss', this term is used to describe the annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany on 12 March 1938, about Hitler's Reichstag speech on February 20 in 1938 and political and social achievments in Germany. General events, foreign relations and foreign news are also subjects in the leaflet.
