Scope and Content
The file contains several reports regarding international conferences of Christians and Jews in 1946. Main subjects discussed and refered in the reports are understanding and cooperation between Christians and Jews based on respect for each other's identity and integrity, further it addresses issues of human rights and human dignity deeply enshrined in the traditions of Judaism and Christianity and counters all forms of prejudice, intolerance, discrimination, racism and the misuse of religion for national and political domination. Just to name some examples, one report discribes the 'training for responsible citizenship' concerning the definition of citizenship, which adresses a whole aproach in moral, social and political sense, and the question of life in a civilised community. Other reports are regarding to the religious liberty and the co-operation between Jews and Christians in Switzerland, the United States or 'Germanism and Judaism'. Also a questionaire, developed by the "council of Christians and Jews', for gathering more information is attached. The questionaire is regarding social relationships of diverse communities, neighbourhoods of mixed people of varied occupation and income levels, as well as questions regarding discrimination, exclusion and intolerance.
