[Rundbriefe für Mitglieder der Bekenntnisgemeinde]
Extent and Medium
1 electronic resource (129 pages)
Scope and Content
The file contains several newsletters published by the Confessing Church in 1935. The newsletters are adressed to the congregation of the Confessing Church. The newsletters point the internal dispute between the 'Deutsche Christen' (German Christians) and the 'Bekennende Kirche' (Confessing Church) out. In each newsletter the Confessing Church discribes its duties and work. It discribes the situation of the churches in germany, gives a progress report of the last month and publishes new appointments for meetings of the congregation. It also shows the prohibition by the Nazis to follow their faith. Furthermore reports about new arrests and the political defamation of the Confessing Church by the Nazi members are discribed. In the newsletters it can be also seen how the Nazis tried to convince the Confessing Church members to join the German Evangelical Church. At the end of each Newsletter the Confessing Church points out how much they are suppressed by the Nazis and that they should continue the resistance and hold on in their work and their faith.
