[Memorandum about the rejection of emigration at the Evian Conference]
Extent and Medium
1 electronic resource (10 pages)
Creator(s)
- Council for German Jewry
Scope and Content
A Memorandum about the conference's rejection of emigration as a solution and the condemnation of the government's actions in depriving a minority of its legal and human rights. The memorandum suggests retraining young Jews in agricultural and manual occupations to find ways of financing the immigration. Hope that the Conference will seek to deal both with the causes of the trouble and with the immediate alleviation of the problem of refugees. Germany must release the immigrants' property. It is hoped that the Conference will establish a small executive body which will direct and supervise the work of emigration and conduct negotiations with the German government. Jewish organizations are prepared to assist the governments in several aspects.
