Scope and Content

The file contains information about the Eastern Orthodox monastery Optina pustyn. Furthermore copies of pictures showing the monastery, the life of the residents and art shown in the monastery. The Optina Pustyn is an Eastern Orthodox monastery for men near Kozelsk in Russia. In the 19th century, the Optina was the most important spiritual center of the Russian Orthodox Church and served as the model for several other monasteries. It is not clear when the monastery was established. It was many times destroyed.
