Scope and Content
The file contains information on the French press agency "L'Agence Havas" asked for by Saly Mayer, a representative of the plaintiffs in the Berne Trial. The agency was founded almost a century before the document on hand was written (Note: "L'Agence Havas" was founded in 1935) by a Hungarian immigrant to France. The summary emphasizes the fact that – in spite of the name "Havas" – there is no Jew amongst the management staff. "L'Agence Havas" is the official agency of the French government and its ideology is controlled by politics. Furthermore, the file lists addresses of their offices, an overview of their finances and short notes on the agency's managers.
