Scope and Content
The file contains documents relating to the genesis and chronological dates of the publication of the 'Protocols of the wise man of Zion'. In their origin, the protocols were in Russian, but when they were published in Europe and America, they were translated. The respective time-shifted publications are of great interest to historians, as they reflect the anti-Semitism of the respective time. Each new issue includes additions and reduction from the previous one. The literature is of the opinion that the Protocols first appeared in 1902, in Nilu's book 'Velikoe v malom i antikhrist, kak blizkaja politicheskaja vozmozhnost. Zapiski pravoslavnogo' (The Great within the Small and Antichrist, an Imminent Political Possibility. Notes of an Orthodox Believer). Source material for the forgery consisted jointly of Dialogue aux enfers entre Machiavel et Montesquieu (Dialogue in Hell Between Machiavelli and Montesquieu), an 1864 political satire by Maurice Joly; and a chapter from Biarritz, an 1868 novel by the antisemitic German novelist Hermann Goedsche, which had been translated into Russian in 1872. There is also a table of contents showing the Jewish population, their rights, organizations and communities in Switzerland since the 16th century
