Scope and Content
An article in the IJA Research Reports describing the Pamyat organization and an article in the Jerusalem Post reporting the Pamyat trial in 1993. The "Pamyat" newspaper and its owner and editor in chief Vasiliev D.D. accuses "The Jewish Gazette" of libel and demands 20 000 000 ruble compensation for the insult. The respondent insists that publication of "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" by the "Pamyat" newspaper is an antisemitic act and this was a reason of including "Pamyat" in the list of antisemitic publications. After hearing witnesses and experts the court decides to reject the claimant demands. Including "Pamyat" in the list of antisemitic publications was an opinion of "The Jewish Gazette". It does not insult any honor or dignity of D.D. Vasiliev. The "Pamyat" newspaper and D.D. Vasiliev had to pay legal costs of 250 000 ruble.
