Markov wishes to inform Toedli that he is willing to be an expert witness in the Bern trial, though he cannot travel anywhere including within France due to finances. Advises that he will have to renew his passport and receive a visa in order to come to Switzerland, and that this must be done in due time because of "obstacles" which may occur at the last moment. He also directs Toedli's attention to Gen. Aleksandr Nechvolodov, author of Alexander II and the Jews, who he says will probably agree to testify though in all likelihood will not come to Bern. Furthermore, he also advises Toedli to contact Evgeniĭ Brant, the author of a four volume book about Jewish ritual murder, and Gen. Spiridovich, who, he says, would be willing to come to Bern, though he will not agree to publicly testify against Jews due to fear. He notes that Spiridovich most probably has little personal awareness as under Rachkovskiĭ in the Russian police he was only a young officer. Markov urges Toedli to send him the 350 franks he is owed for expenses on the work for the trial he has done.
