Scope and Content
The file contains documents that refer to the Bern trial and different trials that followed the Bern trial. A letter to Ruef from Ubald von Roll from 25.12.1934 refers to the Bern trial and is about the time the defense needs to organize the witnesses. Some documents are about Toedtli/DuChayla trial. Correspondence of Ruef with Erfurt about the coordination of the complaint against DuChayla for slander from 1936. The complaint is based on the claim of Nilus that DuChayla lied. The complaint was eventually filed by Toedtli by order of Fleischhauer. The complaint followed a complaint of Schnell. A letter to Ruef refers to a statement of Lifschitz about the complaint against DuChayla. Letter of Ruef to the court in Bern from 1937 referring to the Toedtli case with a rejection of the claim that Fleischhauer is NSDAP member and with the request of a reassessment of the Weltdienst. Many letters are from Bergmeister, who investigated against DuChayla and found a crucial article of DuChayla from a Russian Newspaper where DuChayla wrote about Nilus. Some of the documents of the file refer to the complaint of Leonhardt against Loosli for slander refering to the expertise of Loosli in the Bern trial. The case is about the claim of Loosli that the Nationale Front in Switzerland is funded by Nazi Germany. A letter of Ruef, lawyer of Leonhardt, from 05.08.35 to the court in Bern filing the compaint. Ruef gavethe case to Joss at a certain point. Letter of Joss to the court demanding to comply with the time limits. Loosli and his lawyer Lifshitz lost the case. A leter from Joss demands the payment to Leonhardt according to the verdict. Correspondence between Erfurt and Schnell reveals tensions about the payments from Erfurt to the Nationale Front with Erfurt explaining that the NF can't demand from the Weltdienst to cover all the trail costs.
