Scope and Content
The booklet published by the Socialist Worker's Party abroad discusses the factors that led to the downfall of social democracy in Germany and its failure to resist the rise of the Nazis. Its causes, events, lack of leadership and other causes are provided and analyzed. The shortcoming of socialism is described in the following chapter. Germany's position in the world, the danger to its economy through diminished foreign trade, rising inflation and isolationism are addressed next. The booklet also analyses the consequence of an "Anschluss" of Austria, a crusade against Russia and the Nazi armament policy. It concludes with the assertion that the future of the SPD must be planned through reorganization, a new strategy and plan of action, which will be acted out through revolution if necessary.
