The publication in French written by the wife of Edgar Andrée, Martha Berg Andreé, focuses on the character and personal relationship she had with Andree, and his political activities and imprisonment. Andree was a communist and part of the inner circle of Ernst Thälmann. He was arrested, tortured and imprisoned from 1933 to 1936. In 1936 he was put on trial and sentenced to death. He was beheaded on November 4th, 1936. The writings reflect on his personality and interactions with the poor and outcast of society. The personal relationship of Mary Berg and Edgar Andree is touched upon, as well as his character. His arrest and imprisonment by the Nazis, visits at the prison and various efforts made for his release form the second part of the booklet. Parts of his letters from prison are included. The epilogue mentions fellow convicts, featuring a short biography of Johannes Eggert and a letter to Adolf Hitler. The letter is a plea for amnesty for Rudolf Klauss, Edgar Andree, and Johannes Eggert.
