Scope and Content
The booklet describes the work of the resistance group NKFD (Nationalkomitee Freies Deutschland). It claims that the actual number and amount of resistance against Nazi Germany will never be fully known, since most fighters and witnesses were executed, and pamphlets and other writings could barely be saved. The purpose of this booklet is to provide an overview of the resistance movement NKFD in Leipzig, whose leaders were executed on January 11th and 12th, 1945. Their work consisted of organizing acts of sabotage, passive resistance and the preparation, printing and distribution of fliers (e. g. the paper "Der Widerstand – resistance"). One such document used for training potential members is included. The last pages reprint farewell letters of resistance fighters condemned to death, and letters by an SS-officer to his wife referring to his "great work" fighting the Leipzig group.
