Scope and Content
The pamphlet contains the reprint of a lecture given by the author in Oxford and Birmingham in March 1938. It discusses the struggle between the Christian churches and Nazism. He talks about the “Great Temptation of 1933” – the offer by the state to the church to be part of the national project. The consequence was the fall of the church into a severe internal conflict. In addition, it has to face a “New Germanic Religion” created by the Nazis to replace Christianity.
