Scope and Content
Publication of a speech the author gave for the extraordinary General Assembly of the Swiss Organization of the League of Nations on October 22nd, 1933, in Herzogenbuchsee. It tries to define Swiss statesmanship, its purpose and unifying strength in light of the “new” movements arising in the neighboring countries. National socialism is explained and contrasted to the Swiss model of democracy. The conclusion is that true democracy’s concern is the wellbeing of the human – the reward is common creation of the social space – law, peace, and freedom.
