Scope and Content
The booklet gives a summary of 48 years of resistance leading to the victory of World War I in 1918. It describes the area of Alsace as quintessentially French, providing a historic overview with many illustrations. After the occupation of France new resistance movements were formed. It recounts incidents of Alsatian soldiers who were conscripted into the German army, and when fighting for Germany in Russia deserted to the Red Army. The fate of resistance fighters who lost their life in the fight against the Nazis is honored and remembered. The hope for a near victory is reaffirmed.
