Biographical History
In between reunions, the ROK organization produced regular newsletters that served as a forum to connect the Kinder, mainly keeping them abreast of news concerning each other but also the broader Jewish world. The success of the 50th reunion and demand for newsletters prompted Bertha to take on an additional project concerning the Kinder: she solicited memoirs of their departures from their families and homelands, journeys to Britain, and new lives in Britain and beyond. The accounts were published in the book, I Came Alone. Many of the memoirs in the collection are in response to this project.
