Biographical History

Otto Kapp (1889-1982), a distant relative of the donor, grew up in the small town of Napajedla in Moravia. During term time he lived with his maternal grandparents in nearby Holešov. It was here that a pogrom took place in 1899, an account of which forms the main part of this collection. Otto married his non-Jewish secretary and survived World War Two with the help of his wife’s family in Slovakia.
