Biographical History

Two letters from Maria Forelle (née Augenlicht) to her sister, the donor's great aunt Rifka (née Augenlicht) Warnford-Davis (known as Renee and  then in the USA)  written from Warsaw in 1940 begging for help. These letters were kept by the donor's great aunt and passed to the donor's father who was her adopted son (the birth son in fact of her sister Elka (Edwarda) Herszkovicz nee Augenlicht).

Maria and her daughter Jolanta (who also added a postscript to one of the letters) both died shortly after (mother in a camp and daughter shot in the street)  according to Holocaust victim records we have very recently unearthed.
